One Last Thing

This is an off topic post, but not by too much. If you like movies than of course you love music!

My friend from high school makes his own cool/amazing/unique music. I haven't listened to it in awhile, but stumbled across his myspace page today and it reminded me how amazingly cool his lyrical stories are.

So if you're tired of the same old rock/pop/rap thats oversaturated the market check out dylan vee

Weekend Preview

I have to go to sleep at a decent hour tonight in order to go into work tomorrow at opening. It should the first time were extremely busy all week long with Indiana Jones and Iron Man in theatres along with Sex and The City catering to the female demographic, all along with most local schools getting out for the summer.

After getting back from the disappointing midnight release of The Strangers this morning it was quite apparent that Sex and The City, which also debuted at midnight will be quite popular this weekend. The theatre was packed with more girls at one time than I've ever seen, and it was at midnight! So I suspect I'll be selling lots of sex tomorrow at the box.

I'll be back tomorrow night with a Box Office Update.

Not a review: The Stragers

The movie was absolutely awful, in fact it was so stupid and pointless and emotionless that I'm not even going to write a review for it.

See I've stopped writing, so it isn't a review. Which means I lied in my previous post. (so sorry faithful fan base)

Out.

Midnight Releases:Sex and The City/The Strangers

My theater is conducting two midnight releases this evening, both Sex and The City and The Strangers. I just learned this today and since I'm off tonight and tomorrow I've got to take advantage of this opportunity.

It didn't take long to decide which movie to chose for tonight, I asked my great friend Rachael to go with me, and her being the die-hard Sex and The City fan I thought for sure that would be her choice, but she shot it down saying she must go see it with her best girlfriend. I'm glad though, The Strangers suits my manly taste much better.

Tonight, or rather, early tomorrow morning I'll be back with a review of The Strangers. So stay tuned.

Off Subject: How to...

In the process of expanding my writing experience and broadening my skills I've began to write how to articles for eHow.

So I just thought I'd let my readers know that they can catch more of my glorious (haha) writing over there, and hopefully you'll actually find some of my topics interesting and useful.

Overheard at lunch

So during lunch today my great friend Rachael mentioned how she was so excited about going to the movies this weekend. At first I was puzzled cause I didn't think any good new releases were coming out this weekend. But oh how could I have forgotten?!

SEX AND THE CITY!

..yay..

As soon as she said the title I rolled my eyes and sighed. I personally have never watched a single episode of the show, and have absolutely no interest in it at all. From the previews it looks insanely stupid. There are a few one-liners that might make watching it bearable. Plus it has the advantage of making it easy to find a girl to take to the movies.

So ill be back this weekend with a (un-biased) review of Sex And The City. I'm sure you cant wait.

Late Box Office Update

I just got home from another exciting evening at the box office. I actually had to work 2 extra hours, but it was greatly needed for the next pay check.

I made $7,400 in the 8 hours I worked. It was divided up as follows:
Indiana Jones>>Prince Caspian>>>Iron Man>>>>>>>>>>>>What Happens In Vegas=Made of Honor=Baby Mamma>>Speed Racer.

Goodnight.

Off To Work

So I'm off to work on an assumed to be busy memorial day weekend. I go in at 1:30 and leave as close to 8:00 as I can. This should give me a solid 6 hours to gather information about sales, which will provide a good sample to sum up the weekend. I should make a Box Office Update around 9 tonight.

Box Office Update

Tonight has been a busy one thankfully I had a hilarious lady friend in the box with me to keep me entertained and on my toes. I was on the clock for a measly 4 hours tonight, but it was a good indicator of how the movies are gonna sell this memorial day weekend.

Indiana Jones (My Review) along with Prince Caspian took home the prize this Friday night. The two movies took up nearly half of our 18 screens, with most of them sold out.

Iron Man came in a distant second. It sold decently but not even half of Indiana's sales

What happens in Vegas nudged out Made of Honor. neither of them were any sort of a contender though.

Speed Race....uhm hello? Yeah I didn't sell a single ticket all night.

Review: Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian is the most unique movie currently available on the big screen. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the monotonous romance comedies and redundant over-the-top action films. The newest installment in the Chronicles of Narnia is no disappointment to the followers of the magnificent fantasy series.

In this episode of the fantasy world of Narnia the protagonists have to help bring control of Narnia back to it's rightful holders. The film's plot is actually quite difficult to follow if you aren't a reader of the books. The changing of times and age of the character from the first movie to this one is difficult to understand if you're not well endowed in the plot beforehand. Despite this minor hurdle for the casual movie watcher Prince Caspian is still an enthralling tale that anyone of any age can enjoy.

Final verdict: If you wanna see a movie that isn't the same as every other one out there, this one is for you.

Pro tip: Rent the first one before hand to catch yourself up on the potential confusing plot line.

Review: Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the latest movie to take over the screens at my local workplace. It's opening day, I gathered up an attractive lady friend, a bag of popcorn, added some buttered flavored grease and sat back to enjoy a supposed blockbuster of my time.

The movie didn't live up to the insane amount of hype, but what movie could? The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull did it's job, it entertained me and the young girl. It was artistically breathtaking with it's vibrant colors and outstanding high-budget special effects. The plot was interesting and easy enough to follow, but it seemed secondary to the mediocre over-the-top action scenes that drove the plot line. The only thing that drew the viewer out of the so-so story was the impossible acts made by the protagonists. magazines of ammunition from tens of soldiers always missed and death defying heights never left a scratch.

Yet despite its flaws, the tongue-in-cheek humor and great cast salvaged the movie from being a boring flick that only tailored to the fans of the day. The film is mediocore, but at the same time the best in its genre that is out at the moment.
So is it worth the price of admission?
The answer is: If you must see a movie this week, this is the one to see.

Getting Started

I'm Joshlee and I'm here to provide you with reviews and information on how your favorite movies are doing, straight from the box office!

I'm 18 and still currently working at my first job, which just happens to be at a fairly large movie theater. I started out as a concessionist selling popcorn to mostly unworthy snobby guest, but within the past few months I've moved into the box office where I handle more money than Bill Gates' accountant and constantly enforce the age restrictions of the MPAA to annoying yet mildly entertaining teenagers.

The so called fringe benefits to my job is where this blog comes in to play. I am allowed unlimited access to movies at any time (and I can bring a friend!) plus an insiders knowledge of how the blockbusters are selling. My posts will mainly consist of concise informed reviews of movies that will contain no spoilers and allow you, the reader, to make your own decision before wasting your precious oil and cash to take a trip to the big screen
